‘Game of Thrones’ actress Maisie Williams talked working in the entertainment industry as well as plans for her future in the acting profession. Meanwhile, four new mock campaign videos were recently released featuring four contenders vying for the coveted Iron Throne.
During an interview with Deadline, Williams admitted that she wanted her acting roles to “happen organically”. She said, “Everything that’s happened in my career so far has happened really organically, and that’s the thing I’m going to take with me. But when the time is right, I know I’ll be able, as an actor, to create a new character and have the confidence to do that.”
William’s rise to stardom in HBO’s fantasy series based on George R. R. Martin’s bestselling series of novels ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ is a force to be reckoned with. The 19-year old English actress landed her first major acting gig as the child warrior Arya Stark, a role that earned her critical acclaim in the entertainment industry.
She was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance as Arya in 2012. By 2013, she earned a BBC Radio 1 Teen Award for Best British Actress among others. She later earned a Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Young Actor in a Televison Series as well as an Empire Award on 2015. Finally, she is being considered for a nomination for a 2016 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for which she will compete with fellow castmates Lena Headey and Emilia Clarke.
Williams addressed the nomination saying, “I’m going to have my two girls there with me… We always have a nice time when we’re back together. It’s never really about who’s nominated and who isn’t, or who wins and who doesn’t.”
She also admitted that although life in the spotlight can be challenging at times, she wouldn’t allow it to affect her dreams and goals. She said, “It’s just very current at the moment. I look exactly the same [as Arya] and I feel like my face is still going to change and I’m going to grow as a person… I don’t think there was ever a time where I thought, ‘No, I don’t want to act.’ But there was a time when I was like, ‘I don’t want to be famous.’… But it’s like, who are you to tell me what I should and shouldn’t do? I always enjoyed performing.”
In addition to her involvement in ‘Game of Thrones’, Williams also worked on other television projects namely BBC’s ‘The Secret of Crickley Hall’, Adult Swim’s ‘Robot Chicken’, BBC’s ‘Doctor Who’, and the television thriller film ‘Cyberbully’. She also has some film credits to her name including the 2014 British drama ‘The Falling’, which fared well with critics.
Meanwhile, four new videos of mock campaigns for the coveted Iron Throne have recently been released. According to Moviepilot, the videos featuring Headey’s Cersei Lannister, Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen, Aidan Gillen’s Petyr Baelish, and Kit Harrington’s Jon Snow are part of the marketing hype for season 6’s DVD release.
According to Cleveland.com, the completed sixth season is now available on Digital HD and includes bonus content such as behind-the-scenes footage of Dothraki culture, featurettes detailing prosthetic work, as well as a five-part series that covers the creation of some of the season 6’s most memorable set pieces and scenes.
‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 is a critically-acclaimed fantasy-drama television series created by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss for HBO. It is based on George R. R. Martin’s bestselling books, with the show’s title taken from Martin’s first book in the series.
Season 6 concluded last June 26 and has been renewed for a seventh season, which is scheduled to premiere sometime in mid-2017.
