The anticipation for “GTA 6” still hasn’t died down despite Rockstar and Take-Two maintaining their silence about the game’s development. Part of the reason why the excitement is persisting is due to the various rumors that are constantly popping up around the web.
The most recent of this came from a Reddit leaker who allegedly has inside information about “GTA 6” and claims he got his scoop from his “friends” who works at Kotaku and PCGamer. After the leak got picked up by various publications, the post got deleted along with the Reddit account.
Jason Schreier of Kotaku also deemed the “GTA 6” rumor as a complete fabrication, saying that the laundry list of things that’s been mentioned is a clear sign that the leak is fake. But there are elements to the claim that has persisted even though it’s been shut down by Schreier.
GTA 6’s protagonist will be a male-female duo
One of them is the would-be protagonist of “GTA 6.” As the rumor would have it, the game will allegedly have a protagonist named Ricardo who will start off as a small-time drug runner and will eventually form a drug empire by the end of the game, Inverse reported.
However, another rumor is claiming that the lead is supposedly going to be a girl who’s named Kacey. With the fifth entry sporting three separate protagonists, Rockstar may be looking to whittle that number down to two and introduce the first female lead of the franchise. Rockstar co-founder and “GTA” lead writer Dan Houser previously said that they’ve been playing with the idea of a female lead for the franchise and said that if the right time presents itself, they’ll undoubtedly take the opportunity. “GTA 6” could be that opportunity.
GTA 6 might drop in 2021 at the earliest
Of course, with no confirmation coming from Rockstar, it’s best to maintain a healthy amount of skepticism for now. So what are the rumors saying about the release date of “GTA 6?” There have also been varying claims on this front, but the overall consensus is that it will be a second-gen title. That means it won’t be coming out in 2019 or 2020.
Market analyst Alex Giaimo recently made his prediction about “GTA 6” and said that the title might come out in 2021 at the earliest. This is also the sentiment of gaming analyst Michael Pachter, citing the development of “Red Dead Redemption 2” as precedence for such lengthy gap between the fifth and sixth entry.
