The third season of “Food Wars” officially concluded earlier this year. Aside from waiting for the official release date of “Food Wars” season 4, some people are wondering if enough manga chapters have already been published to allow the continuation of the anime series.
It is important to note that the entire third season with 24 episodes covered 97 manga chapters. What does this say about the release of “Food Wars” season 4?
The latest manga installment released for the franchise, as of this writing, is chapter 287 and season 3 officially ended with chapter 217. This means there are 70 manga chapters currently available for the continuation in “Food Wars” season 4.
Anime producers normally do not have a rigid format when adapting manga chapters into anime episodes. In this case, the anime series still follows after the events of the manga series. So it is safe to estimate that, for a “Food Wars” season 4 with 24 episodes, more manga chapters need to be available first. So reports suggest that, at this rate, fans might have to wait a few more months before the release of “Food Wars” season 4.
On the other hand, the release of new manga chapters is still at a steady pace. So it will not take too long before enough manga materials to become available. With that considered, the general speculation is that “Food Wars” season 4 will premiere sometime in 2019.
Earlier reports eye a possible winter/spring 2019 launch. But as mentioned above, a mid-2019 premiere of “Food Wars” season 4 is more feasible.
Meanwhile, it is quite obvious that “Food Wars” season 4 will continue with the remaining parts of the Promotion Exams Arc. Season 3 concluded with the manga’s “1st Bout” chapter where Soma defeats Nene with his version of instant yakisoba dish. As the competition goes on break, Soma shows determination to defeat Tsukasa.
