Errol Spence Jr has been accused of ducking Terrence Crawford by Timothy Bradley last week. Now, The Truth has finally responded to the allegations and said that there is no veracity to the claim whatsoever.
Errol Spence Jr’s silence about the matter likely stems from the fact that he wants to focus on his upcoming bout against Shawn Porter that’s slated to take place on Sept. 28. He also said that after Porter, he’s eyeing to get in the ring with boxing legend Manny Pacquiao.
Errol Spence Jr recently sat down with Marcos Villegas of Fight Hub TV and gave his two cents about all the talks surrounding him. When Villegas asked him what he thinks of a potential Spence vs. Pacquiao bout, he said that he’s looking forward to it as the match will likely be an interesting one.
Errol Spence Jr said he’s not avoiding Crawford
Indeed, since both boxers are favoring the southpaw stance, it would be intriguing to see how they adjust their gameplay once they fight in the ring. As for Errol Spence Jr’s response to Bradley’s accusation, he had this to say.
“Like I said, I’m gonna get these belts over here and then I’m gonna come take Terence Crawford’s belt because I said I’m gonna be undisputed welterweight champion of the world. So the only way to make that happen is to take [Crawford’s] belt so, I mean, nobody is avoiding him,” Errol Spence Jr said.
Errol Spence Jr wants to knock Porter out
Meanwhile, Errol Spence Jr said that he’s aiming to knock Porter on their fight and even called his opponent a “dirty fighter.” But Spence’s comment does echo some of the criticism surrounding Porter, especially with how his match against Malignaggi and Berto went down, Boxingnews24 reported.
So it appears that Errol Spence Jr is prepared for whatever questionable tactics that Porter will bring. But preparing and actually facing the real thing are two different things. So we’ll just have to see how this fight will go down.
With regards to the possibility of Errol Spence Jr fighting Manny Pacquiao, there’s a slim chance of it happening since the Filipino slugger’s camp may be eyeing someone else. It was heavily speculated that Spence would fight Pacquiao instead of Keith Thurman, but negotiations didn’t pan out for The Truth and he ended up beating Mikey Garcia instead.
