In his recent State of the Union address, President Donald Trump praised First Lady Melania Trump for the work she has done with her BeBest campaign. Political observers quickly noted that this is probably the first time the POTUS talked about the FLOTUS’ campaign in a major speech, Express reported.
During his speech, President Trump highlighted why the next generation of Americans needs campaigns like Melania Trump’s BeBest. He then thanked the FLOTUS for her efforts in helping America’s children.
“Every young person should have a safe and secure environment in which to learn and grow,” President Donald Trump said. “For this reason, our magnificent First Lady has launched the ‘Be Best’ initiative – to advance a safe, healthy, supportive, and drug-free life for the next generation, online, in school, and in our communities.”
“Thank you, Melania, for your extraordinary love and profound care for America’s children,” the president added.
Melania Trump’s critics have always claimed that the First Lady failed to live up to the goals of her BeBest initiative, especially when it comes to cyberbullying. Critics believe that the FLOTUS failed to confront the President who may have actually bullied teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg via his social media posts.
Melania Trump was also given a new role by Donald Trump during the State of the Union address. The President requested the FLOTUS to give the Medal Freedom to Rush Limbaugh.
Mr. Limbaugh most likely did not expect that it would be the First Lady who would graciously tie the medal around his neck as it appeared he tried to contain his shock. However, some social media users believe that it was all a setup, according to Express.
“Trump announces Rush Limbaugh, watching on in the gallery, will get the Presidential Medal of Freedom,” a Twitter user wrote. “Then Melania places it around his neck. Cue Republican whoops and cheers.”
“I’m so tired from Iowa I nodded off and had a weird dream that Melania Trump gave Rush Limbaugh the Medal of Freedom during the state of the union,” another Twitter user wrote.
