‘Doctor Strange’ released its brand new poster featuring Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme in a chaotic landscape. The film’s actual runtime has also been recently revealed.
According to Coming Soon, Marvel Studios recently unveiled a new poster for Scott Derrickson’s upcoming ‘Doctor Strange’ live-action adaptation featuring Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme in what looked to be an upside-down and inside-out world.
The upcoming film is intended as part of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) Phase Three, which is said to introduce the fictional superhero shared universe to the realm of magic and mysticism. According to Dark Horizons, Derrickson explained the use of magic in his new film.
The director said, “Magic is magic in this movie. It’s not something that’s explained away scientifically. It’s not something that’s easy to define. As magic should be. Magic should be mysterious. There’s mystery to magic and there’s mystery to the tone of the movie. Mystery is a good thing.”
Derrickson’s film is the 14th installment in the MCU. It is intended to follow Joe and Anthony Russo’s highly successful ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and precede James Gunn’s widely anticipated ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’.
Joining Cumberbatch in the new cast are Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, Mads Mikkelsen as Kaecilius, Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, Benedict Wong as Wong, and Michael Stuhlbarg as Nicodemus West. It is produced by Marvel Studios and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures in the United States.
According to Comicbook.com, ‘Doctor Strange’ will run for 130 minutes (two hours and ten minutes) as revealed by Australian theater chain Event Cinemas. It was reported that the upcoming film’s 130-minute runtime echoes other properties in the MCU, which had the same estimated number of minutes including the original ‘Iron Man’ film, the first ‘Thor’ film, and ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’.
‘Doctor Strange’ is an upcoming superhero film based on the Marvel comic book character of the same name. It is scheduled to premiere in the United States on November 4, 2016.
