Celine Dion 2019: Diva’s Camp Argues that ICM Partners Did Not Resign but Was Terminated

Celine Dion’s fashion style and weight loss were among the narrative that has surrounded the diva in recent weeks. However, a new story has currently surface that speaks about a lawsuit between the songstress and ICM Partners, the talent agency that’s been representing Dion since the start of her career.

The legal battle is said to involve a $500 million concert deal agreed to by the agency and Celine Dion back in 2017. ICM Partners has released a memo addressing the issue explaining why they opt to cut ties with the diva, Billboard reported.

“As many of you are aware, Rob Prinz has represented Celine Dion for over 30 years (since the beginning of her career), including her unprecedented $500 Million, multi-year touring and performing deal which she signed in 2017. Unfortunately, Ms. Dion is refusing to pay the balance of commissions she owes the agency on this historic deal,” the memo reads.

The memo further said that they’ve reached out to Celine Dion to resolve the issue but it seems that no middle ground has been met by both parties. As such, the agency will be taking legal action against the “My Heart Will Go On” singer.

In response, Celine Dion and CDA Productions released a statement refuting the claim of ICM that they weren’t cooperating with the agency. CDA also said that ICM did not cut ties with the diva but was actually terminated on May 7, 2018, ETCanada reported.

For her part, Celine Dion said that she was disappointed by how ICM handled the whole situation, adding that her camp has made “several very fair and generous offers” to settle things amicably. The ball is at ICM’s court at the moment and it’s still unclear how the agency will proceed from here. If no settlement is agreed upon by both parties, then it’s likely that this matter will be taken to court in the months to come.
