Season 3 of “Call of Duty: Vanguard” and “Warzone” is just a few weeks away, and Activision released a new cinematic teaser for the update. The publishers also shared a cryptic audio file that may contain a not-so-secret message hinting at Godzilla’s arrival.
Shortly after the said cinematic teaser went live, the official “Call of Duty” Twitter page shared 3-second audio from a “device broadcasting a mysterious frequency.” If fans would just listen to it, the audio would not make much sense as it only sounds like a high-pitched static noise. However, a couple of fans tried to run the audio through audio editor software for a quick spectrographic analysis of the audio. And it appears that the brief sound hides a message that reads, “Monsters are real.”

“Call of Duty” players quickly made the connection between the brief audio file’s hidden message and a report from Tom Henderson in February that claimed Activision was planning to feature Godzilla (nicknamed King of the Monsters) and King Kong in “Call of Duty: Warzone.” The reliable leaker said he first found images shared from a now-deleted Twitter page that suggested the fearsome characters coming to the third-person shooter game. Henderson added that he verified those leaked images with his own sources and concluded that they were artwork for the characters coming to “Warzone.”
After the hidden “monsters are real” message was deciphered, other fans pointed out that the “Call of Duty” Season 3 cinematic trailer seemingly contains a faint sound of a giant creature’s roar by the end of the video. Some commented that it sounds strikingly similar to Godzilla’s roar.
Activision has already featured various characters and personalities in “Call of Duty: Warzone,” including popular rapper Snoop Dogg. But seeing giant monsters like King Kong and Godzilla in the game is certainly different from what the publisher has done before.
“Call of Duty” Season 3 is officially titled “Classified Arms” and will signal the arrival of new content on both “Vanguard” and “Warzone.” The next season will go live on Wednesday, April 27.
