Infinity Ward confirmed the “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II” open beta will kick off next month. Aside from the chance to play the game early, the developer will also release the official preview of its multiplayer gameplay in September.
‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II’ open beta dates
Like in previous years, the “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II” beta tests will run for two weeks. And PlayStation users will still get to access the game for more days than those using PC and Xbox.
PS4 and PS5 players who pre-ordered “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II” or have a beta code are eligible for the beta early access on Sept. 16-17. The open beta for all PS4 and PS5 users, including those without beta codes and pre-orders, can start playing on Sept. 18-20.
Early access for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC is set for Sept. 22-23. Open beta for these platforms is scheduled for Sept. 24-26. The entire week 2 of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II” beta tests will serve as an extension of the open beta for PS4 and PS5. And throughout the week, Infinity Ward said the game will support cross-play across all platforms.

The schedule for “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II” beta dates were announced during the Call of Duty League Championship on Sunday, where the developer also held the latest beta code drops. “If you missed the opportunity to obtain a code during Champs, make sure to keep an eye open for more opportunities to receive Early Access Beta Code drops,” Infinity Ward said in a blog post.
‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II’ next major reveal
The open beta is not the only thing fans should look forward to in September. Infinity Ward also announced on Sunday that the next major “Call of Duty” event will take place on Thursday, Sept. 15.
The developer will unveil the first official preview for the “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II” multiplayer. But Infinity Ward will also host an event called “Call of Duty: Next,” where the studio will discuss the franchise’s “immediate future.” Aside from this year’s “Call of Duty” installment, the event will also reveal new information on the next “Warzone” and its upcoming mobile version.
