Beyond Meat is teaming up with KFC China for the new plant-based Spicy Beef Wrap menu. It was announced that this food item will be sold in the restaurant’s 2,600 stores in 28 cities in China.

However, Market Watch mentioned that this plant-based Spicy Beef Wrap in KFC China restaurants will only be available for a limited time. Thus, customers should grab their chance while the menu is still in KFC outlets in the said region.

New menu in KFC China backed by Beyond Meat

This is not the first time that Beyond Meat and KFC have joined forces for a new food offering. Last year, the Los Angeles-based producer of plant-based meat substitutes partnered with the famous fried chicken restaurant for its Beyond Burger that was sold in the KFC stores.

It was reported that Beyond Meat’s shares jumped more than five percent on Wednesday, May 26, after the news of its plant-based meat is making its way to KFC China as both parties expand their partnership further. Yum! Brands own the KFC franchise so the deal was actually between the said firm and Beyond Meat.

Beyond Meat and Yum Brands partnership

The plant-based beef wrap that will make its way to KFC branches in China does not have cholesterol and only contains a total of 12.8 grams of protein. Surely, this will be another hit for KFC customers who prefer “meatless” products or have been practicing the vegan way of life.

In any case, Beyond Meat and Yum Brand’s partnership is getting stronger. In fact, aside from KFC, other Yum restaurants including Pizza Hut and Taco Bell have been featuring menus with Beyond Meat in their restaurants. With its many collaborations, Barron’s noted that the plant-based meat maker is surely successful in sealing high-profile partnerships not just in the U.S. but overseas as well.

“We are honored to enter into a global strategic partnership with Yum! Brands, one of the world's largest restaurant companies,” Beyond Meat founder and chief executive officer, Ethan Brown, said in a press release that was posted in February. “We look forward to expanding our work with the teams at Yum's iconic KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell brands to together bring truly delicious plant-based product innovation to consumers."
