‘Bates Motel’ season 5’s episode 2, titled “The Convergence of the Twain," will follow Norman as he goes on a date but things take a turn for the worst. Meanwhile, Romero continues to get even despite being stuck behind bars.
The brief synopsis for “The Convergence of the Twain" posted on TV Guide reads, “Norman's (Freddie Highmore) date goes awry; Romero's (Nestor Carbonell) frustrations boil over; and Chick (Ryan Hurst) gives Norman a gift.”
The fifth season of A&E’s psychological horror-drama television series kicked off last February 20 with the first episode, titled “Dark Paradise.” It followed Norman two years later as he ran the motel alone following the death of his mother, Norma (Vera Farmiga). Norman also meets a local hardware store owner named Madeleine (Isabella McNally), who look strikingly like Norma.
The first episode also gave viewers the first look at Norman’s imminent transformation into Norma, whose corpse was initially hidden at the motel. It seems that the upcoming episode may feature “Norma” messing up Norman’s date. Although no details have been released, it is presumed that Norman would go on a date with Madeleine.
Meanwhile, Romero will grow even more frustrated and desperate at his situation in the upcoming episode, according to Cartermatt. The former sheriff is still currently in prison after getting arrested for perjury in season 1.
Romero was denied parole but continued to harbor a grudge against Norman. He sent a man to kill Norman in season 2’s premiere episode but this plan failed when Norman murders him instead.
‘Bates Motel’ season 5’s episode 2, titled “The Convergence of the Twain," is scheduled to be released on February 27, 2017 on A&E. It will be followed by episode 3, titled "Bad Blood," directed by Sarah Boyd and scheduled to air on March 6.
