The state of “Alita: Battle Angel 2’s” development and production is still uncertain, but the first movie left enough crumbs for fans to formulate plot predictions for a sequel. One of the obvious possibilities is having Alita (Rosa Salazar) reach Zalem and face Nova (Edward Norton).
The James Cameron-produced film relatively maintained important aspects of the original story from the 1990s Japanese manga series “Battle Angel Alita” by Yukito Kishiro. However, there have also been significant changes applied to the plot and character lineup. The alterations were expected and there were earlier speculations that the character of Nova will not be featured in the live-action movie. That was completely shattered in the final seconds of the first film, though, and Norton’s cameo even sparked hopes for the making of “Alita: Battle Angel 2.”
‘Alita: Battle Angel 2’ plot predictions: Is Nova going to be Alita’s next main villain?
Nova is not only a mad scientist, but he also has great control over who can climb up to Zalem. With Vector’s help, he managed to trick many people into harvesting human and cyborg body parts for his experiments and promising them it would give them ride up to Zalem.
Alita had several adversaries in the first movie namely Vector (Mahershala Ali), Grewishka (Jackie Earle Haley), and Zapan (Ed Skrein). They caused irreparable damages to her life that even led to the demise of her love interest, Hugo (Keean Johnson). Alita later figured out that she can directly speak to Nova through a dying Vector. This interaction left many questions unanswered that should be tackled in “Alita: Battle Angel 2.” Luckily, there were clues that it is the producers’ plan.
‘Alita: Battle Angel 2’ could show Alita reaching Zalem, facing Nova
The first movie ended with a scorned Alita who is also on her way to becoming the Motorball champion – a sure way of getting into Zalem. However, the real conclusion of the film featured Nova smirking down on Alita while the titular protagonist promised on wreaking vengeance onto Nova and Zalem. This is obviously a way of setting up the plot for “Alita: Battle Angel 2.”
Alita is almost certainly going to be the Motorball champion. This means she could be moving up to Zalem in “Alita: Battle Angel 2.” Since her primary goal is to find Nova and punish him, it is safe to assume that Norton will return to portray the main villain in the sequel movie. Now, fans just have to be patient until 20th Century Fox announces the sequel’s production.
