The way the first movie was narrated and how it ended leaves significant clues in terms of the main characters who would return in a sequel. However, “Alita: Battle Angel 2” could still surprise fans with the appearances of some rather unexpected returning characters.
‘Alita: Battle Angel 2’ plot, cast
There appears to be a good chance for some cameo appearances in the first movie to be extended in the sequel. Several known actors surprised movie fans when they showed up for uncredited cameos in the first film. Their presence was also not just for show because they portrayed roles that could be significant to establish Alita’s (Rosa Salazar) past and future.
Alita was becoming a Motorball fan-favorite by the end of the first movie. It was a clear hint that Hugo’s (Keean Johnson) death further fueled her desire to win the tournament and get the chance to go to Zalem. However, it was not indicated that she already conquered all challenges in the competition, and it could be something to be explored in “Alita: Battle Angel 2.”
Jai Courtney briefly appeared in the first movie as the Motorball final champion named Jashugan. Defeating him would mean Alita gets to go to Zalem. This is a very important milestone for the main protagonist, so it is likely a part of “Alita: Battle Angel 2” to chronicle how she would fulfill Hugo’s dream of reaching Zalem. This also means Courtney could have more screentime in the sequel.
“Fast & Furious” star Michelle Rodriguez had a cameo in the first film, too, as Alita’s mentor named Gelda. Since there is so much more to explore about Alita’s past as a member of a deadly Martian army, it would not be surprising if “Alita: Battle Angel 2” would also include more scenes with Gelda.
‘Alita: Battle Angel 2’: What about Nova?
Edward Norton also appeared in an uncredited cameo as Zalem’s genius overlord named Nova. However, unlike Jashugan and Gelda, Nova’s return in “Alita: Battle Angel 2” is more likely as he established to be Alita’s next main adversary.
Unfortunately, it is still impossible to determine when “Alita: Battle Angel 2” would be released. Disney has yet to confirm if it will greenlight the production of the sequel.
