“Age of Empire 4” didn’t receive much fanfare during the recently concluded E3 conference as Microsoft provided little details about the title’s development. However, Phil Spencer – Microsoft's executive VP of gaming – did say that they’re going to offer more information later this year, GamesRadar reported.
It appears that Relic Entertainment will slowly ramp up the marketing campaign for “Age of Empire 4” if the email received by Reddit user Tattorack is anything to go by. While the message doesn’t offer much, it did assure that the team will not be keeping fans in the dark for long, hammering home Spencer’s aforementioned statement.
"We also want to address the War Elephant in the room and acknowledge that we've been a little quiet in the past. Moving forward, we will be changing how we communicate with our valued Insiders – in a big way,” the email read. While the email is geared towards the closed Steam beta for “AoEII DE,” it does hint that the developers are planning to unveil something soon. However, it’s still unclear what event Microsoft is eyeing to showcase “Age of Empire 4.”
The most obvious choice is Gamescom that will take place on Aug. 20-24. However, given that Spencer said they’ll unveil more details later in the year, this speculation is a bit too early for such a timeline. Whatever the case, Relic Entertainment is already hard at work developing “Age of Empire 4,” and fans are simply excited that a new entry is being created.
The fourth installment was announced in 2017, and since then, the developers went radio silence. E3 2020 is being considered as the event that would really showcase “Age of Empire” 4 and what the gaming studio has cooked up this time around.
Hopefully, a smoother multiplayer experience and improved pathfinding will be address by the game as these two are one of the most infuriating aspects of the third entry. As for what the rumors are saying about the release date of “Age of Empire 4,” it appears that it isn’t expected to come out until 2020 at the earliest, PCGamer reported.
