Hyundai Motor Group earned four top safety pick awards from the nonprofit US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), further proving the quality of its vehicles.
Hyundai’s Palisade SUV, Kia’s Telluride SUV, and Genesis’ G90 sedan garnered the Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+) award while Hyundai’s Sonata obtained the Top Safety Pick (TSP) award.
The group has Hyundai Motor Co., affiliate Kia Corp., and its independent Genesis brand under its wing.
The IIHS selected 28 TSP+ models and 20 TSP models after testing hundreds of new models in five area: moderate overlap front, driver-side small overlap front, side, seat head restraint, and roof strength.
After each test, vehicles receive one of four grades: good, acceptable, marginal, or poor.
A TSP is given to a car model if it obtains a good grade across all five areas. The award is improved to a TSP+ award if it also receives high marks for its headlights and in the passenger-side small overlap test.
