Jailbreaks for practically every version of the iPhone have been an ongoing issue that Apple has had to contend with for years. This time, the jailbreak for the iPhone 7 has been achieved. Fortunately for the tech giant, the person responsible is refusing to share the methods used to do so.
It didn’t take more than a week for someone to figure out how to jailbreak Apple’s newest iPhone offering, BGR reports. The person responsible for the breach is Luca Tedesco, a security researcher. As proof, Tedesco Tweeted a picture of a jailbroken iPhone 7. Sure enough, the device was running both the iOS 10.0.1 and the Cydia version 1.1.26.

Right now, details are scarce as to how the hacker was able to jailbreak his phone, including the tool he used or whether or not the jailbreak was even untethered. In any case, it doesn’t seem like Tedesco is going to provide specifics on his achievement.
In any case, it’s only a matter of time before some other hacker, group, or even government agency manages to figure out how to jailbreak the iPhone 7. They’ll have to work a bit harder now, though, as Apple will have surely patched the vulnerabilities that Tedesco managed to exploit if they even know such vulnerabilities exist.
As Techno Buffalo notes, the Pangu team is already on the case and are expected to share their results sometime soon. For those who aren’t aware, the Pangu team is one of the most well-known groups that jailbreak phones. As such, if anyone group is going to figure out how to get around Apple’s strict security measures, most analysts are betting on Pangu.
On that note, any attempt to jailbreak by any group would just be patched by Apple during the next software update anyway. Then the cycle starts all over again.
