Apple is likely to play more with colors in terms of designing the iPhone 2018 models. Notable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently reported that Apple fans might see the new iPhone devices in new color options, such as gold, blue, and orange.
Kuo’s report (via 9To5Mac) reiterates other rumors surrounding the iPhone 2018 release that Apple will launch at least two models: a 6.5-inch and a 6.1-inch iPhone. The same analyst claims that Apple will unveil the 6.5-inch iPhone in black, white, and gold while the smaller device will arrive in “grey, white, blue, red and orange” options.
Apple is known for remaining with the common hues used in designing smartphones that normally fall under the palettes of white, black, and grey. But this is not the first time Apple will be introducing a new color option for the iPhone lineup.
However, this interestingly the first time Apple will debut its smartphones in striking colors. For example, Apple only released the iPhone 7 (Product) RED last year for charitable causes. This was also applied on the iPhone 8 earlier this year. But even these special editions of iPhone color do not really stay for good.
Meanwhile, the same 9To5Mac report also recalls that the iPhone X was originally planned to have a gold color option, according to a leaked Federal Communications Commission filing. But, obviously, Apple scrapped the idea.
On the other hand, it is likely that Kuo’s report of grey and white iPhone colors refers to the familiar Space Grey and Silver variants that have been available for years. It is also unclear yet if the rumored red option in the iPhone 2018 lineup is another batch of (Product) Red release from Apple.
Like the usual case, Apple has remained quiet about the features and specs of the iPhone 2018 models. But previous reports claimed that the company will release three new iPhones later this year. There will be two models following the iPhone X series with OLED displays plus the 6.1-inch unit that will sport a thinner LCD panel.
