iPad Pro 2018 Release Date, News & Update: Tablet Unveiling Likely on October 30

Industry insiders are confident that Apple will introduce an updated iPad Pro this year, but some tech enthusiasts are starting to doubt the validity of these reports after the iPhone event went by without a single mention of the tablet. Well, the good news is that Apple still has another chance to unveil the iPad Pro 2018 since they are holding an event at the Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, New York on Oct. 30.

Aside from updates to the Mac lineup, observers believe the iPad Pro 2018 will be among the devices introduced at the event. Earlier this year, noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the current 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch models are going to be replaced by a new 11-inch variant and a redesigned 12.9-inch model, so it will be interesting to see if this is true.

Kuo also noted that the iPad Pro 2018 may have a Face ID feature instead of Touch ID. This enables Apple to change the tablet's design by dropping the Home button and shrinking the bezels around the screen.

“Apple is reportedly taking different approaches to the two models. With the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, it is leaving the screen size unchanged, and using the slimmer bezels to reduce the exterior dimensions of the device. With the smaller model, Apple is doing the opposite: leaving the exterior dimensions unchanged, but boosting the display size from 10.5 inches to 11 inches,” Ben Lovejoy said in his report for 9to5Mac. “The combination of the new design, more portable 12.9-inch model and increased screen size of the 11-inch version makes the 2018 iPad Pro line-up a dramatic upgrade,” he continued.

According to reports, Apple is expected to replace the Lightning port with a USB-C port, and it will likely come with an Apple Pencil as well. Based on the rumors, the iPad Pro 2018 sounds like a great device. The question is, will Apple really update the device this year?
