Many are now expecting that the highly anticipated release of iOS 12 jailbreak is close to happening after months of waiting. The renewed hope was recently sparked by some updates from developers known to be working on the jailbreak.

There has yet to be a fully functioning iOS 12 jailbreak since the latest software version for Apple mobile devices was released in 2018. But developers have been posting updates on social media and other online platforms to let the community know they have something in the pipeline.

One of the biggest updates came out recently from Brandon Azad. The developer is one of the popular names in the jailbreaking community. A tweet posted on Jan. 22 hinted that he might be closer to releasing a full version of iOS 12 jailbreak. “If you’re interested in bootstrapping iOS kernel security research (including the ability to forge PACs and call arbitrary kernel functions), keep an A12 research device on iOS 12.1.2,” Azad wrote.

Even though he did not directly mention an iOS 12 jailbreak release, many fans understood that it was an indication that Azad is working on it. Speculations further increased when another popular developer, Min Zheng, shared Azad's post and commented, “Looking forward to seeing iOS 12 [jailbreak].”

RedmondPie noted that Zheng's tweet could also be a hint that the developers already have the “core components” to build the iOS 12 jailbreak. Zheng is a senior security engineer for Android and iOS at Alibaba. So if he sees the iOS 12 jailbreak coming out in the very near future, fans should be too.

These are all exciting news, obviously. But fans should pay close attention to Azad's tweet. He advised that those who are looking forward to having the iOS 12 jailbreak are advised not to update to the iOS 12.1.3.

The excitement among fans is understandable. Since Apple became more aggressive in building its newer iOS updates, they placed more security measures and acted more quickly once exploits are identified. These efforts did not make jailbreaking obsolete. But it obviously increased the time it takes for developers to build the iOS 12 jailbreak.
