Richard Manasseh is a mechanical engineer with a PhD in applied mathematics, specialising in fluid dynamics. His research focuses on wave modes and oscillators in fluids and their interactions. He has applied this fundamental research in diverse domains, including ocean wave power, food processing, medical imaging, atmospheric physics, submarine noise, microfluidic devices, wastewater treatment and spacecraft engineering. In mid-2016 his Google-Scholar h-index was 23. He is a specialist in laboratory experiments with significant field and industrial plant experience. He became a full-time academic in 2010 after a 15-year career in industrial R&D. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, Vice-President of the Australasian Fluid Mechanics Society and immediate past President. His current role is Chair of Swinburne University of Technology's Department of Mechanical and Product Design Engineering.
