Taco Bell has officially started collaborating with recycling company TerraCycle to let customers collect hot sauce packets and ship them off for recycling through UPS for free.
In April, Taco Bell announced the team up, but details on the program implementation hadn't been discussed.
Taco Bell, which hands out some of the 8.2 billion plastic hot sauce packets each year, is also figuring out the most feasible way to collect packets in restaurants.
The fast-food company noted that the results of the pilot program would determine its most viable long-term solutions.
Both firms vowed to monitor the program to determine the best approach.
TerraCycle's mission is to 'Eliminate the Idea of Waste' and recycle items that are not traditionally recyclable curbside, said founder and CEO Tom Szaky.
