Xiaomi has finally confirmed the release of the Xiaomi Mi A2 and A2 Lite. Both devices are anticipated as the latest Android One-supported smartphones from the Chinese tech company. And they are going to be unveiled in a dedicated event set for next week.
These upcoming devices have been the subject of information leaks for the past months. But Xiaomi has decided to release one official detail at a time. First, the company confirmed through a Twitter post on Tuesday that it is going to hold an event for the global launch of the Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite on July 24 in Spain.

Xiaomi also confirmed that the Xiaomi Mi A2 and A2 Lite will be supported by the Android One program. The Android One, established in 2014, is bringing the unmodified Android operating system and UI to entry-level devices. This is done mainly to ensure that there is a consistent flow of security patches even to low- and mid-tier smartphones.
Meanwhile, the maker of the Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite has not yet revealed other details especially when it comes to the devices’ specifications, features, and design. However, Xiaomi has already hinted that both models are going to sport rear camera setups with dual lenses that are vertically stacked together.

As for Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite’s other specifications and features, fans can draw ideas from the leaked pieces of information reported previously. For one, it has been reported earlier this month that the Mi A2 will be released in at least three color variants, namely gold, blue, and black.
The source of the said report, MySmartPrice, claimed that the global launch will happen on July 25 — which is now confirmed to be slightly incorrect. But the same report was spot-on in saying that the unveiling event is set in Spain.
Since these devices are going to be launched very close to the Mi 6x, many believe that Xiaomi Mi A2 will share some similar specs and features with the Mi 6x. So fans will have to wait until next week if the upcoming smartphone will sport a Snapdragon 660 chip. But the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite is obviously going to have a tad lower technical specs.
