Werner received the Nebraska National Guard Homeland Defense Service ribbon for its innovative, military-focused practices. Associate Vice President of Student and Government Recruiting Jim Morbach and Associate Director of Field and Government Recruiting Rick Buchholz each individually received the Seven Seals Award for their meritorious leadership and support of the men and women who serve America in the guard and reserve.

In addition, Werner was recognized for its designation as a 2018 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award Finalist by the ESGR. The Freedom Award is the highest recognition given by the Department of Defense (DoD) to employers, and as the only truckload carrier listed among the finalists, Werner was selected among more than 2,300 nominations.
