OMAHA, Neb., Jan. 11, 2017 -- Werner Enterprises (NASDAQ:WERN), a premier transportation and logistics provider, is pleased to announce professional driver Micheal Sheeds has been named to the 2017-2018 American Trucking Associations (ATA) America’s Road Team. Selected from 33 finalists who competed this week before a panel of judges in Arlington, Virginia, Sheeds will serve as a captain with 19 other professional drivers.

Sheeds, from Bandera, Texas, has driven more than 3 million accident-free miles since joining Werner in 1990. The U.S. Marine Corps veteran has trained more than 200 student drivers since 1991 and was named a 2015 Citizen Driver Award winner by TravelCenters of America.
Founded in 1986, America’s Road Team represents the country’s more than 3.5 million professional drivers and serves as an example of the dedication and teamwork needed to deliver America’s freight safely and on time. The new captains will travel the country sharing the industry’s message of safety, essentiality and sustainability with the motoring public, communities, media and public officials nationwide.
