The new year is approaching and many will most definitely be making the resolution to lose weight. Diet and exercise are two of the biggest factors in weight loss, but supplements can help it along as well, and a new report reveals that fiber supplements can help.

When it comes to weight loss, a change in diet is the biggest contributor, followed by exercise. Supplements can also help, and Express reports that experts recommend taking fiber supplements to help in losing the pounds, especially what may be gained during the holidays. Nutritional therapist Hannah Braye explained that fiber is an important part of a person’s diet, and the recommended amount of fiber that people have to take daily is 30 milligrams. However, Braye also said that people are not consuming enough fiber to reach the daily amount.

Braye went on to say that fiber also plays a vital part in regulating the appetite. Taking foods rich in fiber will make a person feel fuller for a longer period of time resulting in reduced cravings or snacks in between meals. It also means that people can eat bigger portions of high-fiber foods for fewer calories. Studies have also backed this up, saying that fiber helps in overall weight loss.

Other benefits to having a high-fiber diet are that it aids in constipation and diarrhea as well as improving the digestive system.

All in all, a high-fiber diet with fruits and vegetables can greatly help in weight loss. Eating times also play a big part when it comes to losing weight. When it comes to fruits, Express also reports that avocados for breakfast can help in a person’s overall weight loss. This is because avocados have a low amount of saturated fat but contain high amounts of fatty acids which are good for the heart. This fruit is also a good source of soluble fiber, which not only gets converted into fatty acids when it reaches the colon, it also helps in suppressing appetite, which can make a person feel fuller for longer.

A single avocado contains 13/5 grams of soluble fiber. One serving of an avocado, which is a third of the fruit, contains 4.5 grams, with 1.4 grams of soluble fiber.
