“Warcraft 3: Reforged” was announced last year and since then the developers have remained mum about their progress on the remaster. To be fair, the team did say from the get-go that it would take a significant amount of time to polish everything given that they’re giving love to every asset in the game, not just to a select few.
Sure, it’s not a complete remake as “Warcraft 3: Reforged” will still use the original version’s tech. But there’s no denying that the endeavor is far more expansive than what Blizzard did to “Starcraft: Remaster.” Tim Morton, who’s part of the studio’s classic team, even said that they’ve been working on the game for years before they made the announcement.
“It’s was a pretty substantial effort [to remaster]. ‘Starcraft: Remastered’ was also a substantial effort, but the scope of assets and just complexity of the [Warcraft III] engine – this was Blizzard’s first 3D game – it’s orders of magnitude more work, even than Starcraft: Remastered,” Morton said. Fortunately, the development phase for “Warcraft 3: Reforged” seems to be going swimmingly.
Warcraft 3: Reforged may arrive on November
Models for some heroes and units in the game has recently made its way on the web, hinting that the developers may be close in finishing the remaster, PCGamesN reported. While Blizzard hasn’t announced anything yet, “Warcraft 3: Reforged” could arrive on Nov. 1 and 2 as BlizzCon is slated to take place during that time.
If true, then the beta version may be closer still. And for those who are interested in participating, head over to this link to qualify. Keep in mind, however, that the version is still incomplete and “Warcraft 3: Reforged” will highly likely still have some bugs when it launches the beta version.
Warcraft 3: Reforged may be the key for Warcraft 4
As for what the community is hoping the remaster will bring, the main goal right now is to bring more players in the game. More players will result in more popularity, which could produce more tournaments in the future. And more competitions mean more content. “Warcraft 3: Reforged” could also be the deciding factor that would convince Blizzard to make a fourth entry for the RTS franchise finally.
Hopefully, the studio breaks its silence about the remaster soon as the player base is becoming more restless by the week. The last time that the developers provided an update on “Warcraft 3: Reforged” was back on June 11. And that update didn’t offer much information either.
