Veriflow Co-Founder and CTO Brighten Godfrey to Present at ONUG Spring 2018

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 02, 2018 -- Veriflow today announced that Co-Founder and CTO Brighten Godfrey will speak at the upcoming ONUG Spring 2018 conference. His session, “Intent-based Network Verification: Practical Use Cases,” will demonstrate how the Veriflow platform provides network assurance with mathematical confidence.

Enterprise and service provider networks are becoming increasingly complex and dynamic, and are challenged by the risk of outages and vulnerabilities. Veriflow’s Continuous Network Verification platform allows enterprises and other organizations to reduce downtime and improve protection of the network in such demanding environments. Dr. Godfrey will show ONUG attendees how Veriflow collects network-wide state, normalizes it and builds a predictive model in order to ensure network-wide reality meets the business intent. He will explore real customer use cases for verification with a focus on automated intent inference, interactive incident response and a seamless view across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid networks.

ONUG Spring 2018 is taking place at the UCSF Mission Bay Conference Center in San Francisco, California, May 8 – May 9, 2018. 

What: The goal of all ONUG events and working groups is to bring together the full IT community to allow IT business leaders to learn from peers, to make informed open infrastructure deployment decisions, and to create dialogue between the vendor and user communities to collectively drive open infrastructure choices and options via aggregated use case requirements. The ONUG semiannual conferences function as a product and reflection of the work being done in the working groups throughout the year. The conferences include keynotes from enterprise IT business leaders as they address their open software-defined cloud-based infrastructure journeys, updates from the ONUG Working Group members, hands-on tutorials and interactive labs, real-world use cases, proof of concept (PoC) demonstrations and a vendor technology showcase.

Who: P. Brighten Godfrey is co-founder and chief technology officer of Veriflow. Dr. Godfrey has conducted research in networked systems and algorithms for more than a decade and is a co-inventor of key technology in use at Veriflow. He has developed novel architectures and systems for Internet routing, data-center networking, high-performance data transport and network data-plane verification. Several of these technologies have been deployed by hyperscale cloud-computing providers. Dr. Godfrey has also advanced the theoretical analysis of network algorithms and is co-author of more than 50 scientific publications.

In 2015, Dr. Godfrey received the ACM SIGCOMM Rising Star Award in recognition of outstanding research contributions, including contributions to network verification. Only one individual worldwide is selected for this prestigious award each year. He was also awarded the Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship in 2014 and the National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 2012. Dr. Godfrey continues to advise young researchers in his role as Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is co-instructor of a popular Coursera course, “Cloud Networking.” He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
