NEW YORK, Feb. 16, 2016 -- Varonis Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:VRNS), a leading provider of software solutions that protect data from insider threats and cyberattacks, today announced the general availability of DatAnywhere version 2.9. Featured on Gartner’s Magic Quadrant, DatAnywhere is a secure enterprise file sync and share solution that enables existing file servers and NAS devices to behave like a cloud-based service without needing to migrate sensitive data outside an organization’s control.
Varonis DatAnywhere version 2.9 now makes it even easier for users to edit files, enabling document editing from smartphone or tablet devices. Within the DatAnywhere application, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Text files can be changed from anywhere at any time. Without any changes to the existing infrastructure, DatAnywhere immediately cloud-enables on-premises file shares for increased productivity and mobility.
“Organizations realize that even as their use of the cloud expands, they’re going to continue to store a lot of data in on-premises file shares for a long time," said Terri McClure, Senior Analyst at ESG. “DatAnywhere is a secure way for organizations to quickly and easily modernize access to their existing file shares – it can give end users a cloud-like experience on tens or hundreds of terabytes of data within hours, while allowing the data itself to stay behind the firewall."
David Gibson, Varonis Vice President of Strategy and Market Development, said, "DatAnywhere was created to bridge the divide between end users’ need to more easily share and access files, and IT’s need to control company data. Varonis took a closer look at the preferred way to share files with co-workers, and in a study conducted by the Ponemon Institute, found that 43% of end users prefer the experience of public cloud services. With the rise in mobile usage, Varonis is committed to offering customers a more secure way to share, edit and access company files on mobile, desktop and tablet devices.”
