Universal Music Group, Republic Records, Styngr Brings Boombox to Roblox; Music Labels Can Launch Playlists on Platform

Universal Music, Republic Records launch Boombox on Roblox.

Universal Music Group, Republic Records, and Styngr, the gaming arm of the recorded music industry, launched Boombox on the Roblox platform. This solution will allow music labels to create, launch, distribute, and monetize their music through Roblox Corporation's online game and game creation system.

Universal Music Group, Republic Records, and Styngr have joined forces to develop Boombox, which will benefit all music companies and producers. The integration of this solution into the gaming space will also give playlists more exposure via the gaming platform's millions of active users.

What is Boombox

The partner companies launched Boombox on Roblox, which has become the first scaled music product on the platform. This new feature was designed and powered by Styngr. It allows music labels to release their playlists and securely add them to the gaming world.

Boombox is being rolled out with the popular South Korean girl group TWICE as the first artist. It was launched during the group's TWICE Square experience, which is said to be the most visited music experience in Roblox's history, as per PYMNTS.

Later, Boombox will be expanded to include other experiences on the Rblox platform. Over the next year, the goal is for this music product feature to reach 3,500 experiences.

Benefits from Boombox on Roblox

The online gaming platform has 68 million average daily active users, and 58% of these users are 16 years old or younger. Boombox operates through Stynger's ad-supported music player so players can encounter or view new music playlists.

All the playbacks on Roblox are monetizable for the music labels and artists. With broader reach, hits for playbacks would be easy, so earning was also made more accessible.

"By integrating Boombox, UMG solidifies its position as a vanguard of music innovation within the gaming sector," UMG's senior vice president, Alvaro G. Velilla, said in a press release. "This integration not only enhances super-fan experiences on the platform but does so with an extensive array of fully licensed music from UMG's global roster of artists and labels, setting a new standard for how music can be integrated into the platform for the entire sector."
