Lexington, Ky., June 14, 2017 -- The United States Hunter Jumper Association invites equestrians of all ages to test their horsemanship knowledge June 15-July 15 in the USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Stable Challenge, presented by The Plaid Horse. The 30-day online quiz challenge is open to juniors and amateurs and brings barns together as teams to put their horsemanship knowledge to the ultimate test for a chance to win great prizes.
"Each year we enjoy watching equestrians of all ages participate in this fun and educational competition," said Kevin Price, executive director of the USHJA. "Horsemanship is the foundation to being a great equestrian, and we're excited to acknowledge and reward those who make horsemanship knowledge a priority."
The challenge is meant to engage a trainer's entire barn as a team. At least three students per trainer must complete the online USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Practice Quiz at www.ushja.org/HQC June 15-July 15 for their barn to be eligible to win. At the end of the 30-day challenge, the three top scores under each trainer will be averaged to provide an overall score. In the event of a tie, the fourth highest score for that trainer's barn will be added to the average. Participants can take the quiz as many times as they like during the 30-day window to improve their scores.
In addition, participants under the age of 21 (per US Equestrian rules) can give their barn an edge by acquiring bonus points when they take the official Horsemanship Quiz Challenge. Participants who take the Level One and Level Two HQC quizzes will receive 10 bonus points for each level they complete. Those points are then added to their individual score. In the event of a tie, a fourth score will be added to the average. Participants who have already taken the Level One and Level Two quizzes will automatically receive those bonus points when they take the Practice Quiz and list their trainer's name.
The highest scoring trainer per USHJA zone wins a unique trainer-inspired award package that includes a helmet from Charles Owen, a hat from CWD, a one-year membership to Equestriancoach.com, samples from Perfect Products, a pair of Pro Performance horse boots from Professional's Choice , a gift from Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital, a grooming bucket with supplies from Shapley's, gifts from The Plaid Horse, and a discount on products from Standlee Hay Company.
The trainer of a participating barn must be a current USHJA member and be declared professional with US Equestrian in order to be eligible to win. For each score to count toward a trainer's average, the trainer's name must be listed in the HQC Practice Quiz form.
