“Minnesota credit unions are doing remarkable things to grow brand awareness and market to members and non-members alike,” said Andrea Molnau, MnCUN Vice President of Communications and Engagement. “The statewide awards program recognizes the best of the best. We at the local trade association would like to congratulate the winners and thank all of the 2017 applicants for their participation.”
In the Community Impact & Outreach category, TopLine won in its asset category for its TopLine Credit Union Foundation Fundraising event. The 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation hosted their second annual fundraising event attracting over 120 attendees and 38 sponsors who came together to enjoy lawn bowling, live and silent auctions and raffle. The event raised over $17,000 in donations towards a scholarship fund that will help students with the costs of higher education. To date, TopLine Credit Union Foundation has awarded 48 scholarships totaling $30,000 to recipients pursuing or continuing post secondary education.
In the Digital Advertising category, the “Invite to Like” Contest brought TopLine the honor. TopLine launched its Facebook page, along with several other social media platforms in January 2016 to better engage with members and employees, foster new relationships and connect with the community. To create internal excitement around the launch, the credit union created a contest for employees, branded as the “Invite to Like” Facebook contest. It divided employees up into teams, and each team was given two days to invite as many people as possible to “like” TopLine’s Facebook page. The goal was 1,500 “likes” and the credit union exceeded its goal with 1,703 “likes” in just 5 weeks.
“We are honored to win these two awards from MnCUN in the competition’s inaugural year,” said Vicki Erickson, Vice President, Marketing and Communications, TopLine Federal Credit Union. “We take great pride in creating thoughtful outreach and advertising that makes an impact with our members, employees and community, and it’s an added bonus to have those efforts highlighted by our peers within the credit union community.”
In 2017, the Minnesota Credit Union Network introduced a statewide credit union marketing awards program. Open to all MnCUN member credit unions, the awards recognized outstanding programs in branding, community impact and outreach, digital advertising, video, and complete campaigns.
