“The Sims” remains one of the most successful life simulation video games in the market. Even with numerous expansion packs released for “The Sims 4,” its fans are still eagerly waiting for any announcements about “The Sims 5.”

However, developers are still mum whether or not “The Sims 5” is already in the making. Many fans were also hoping to see any updates or teasers at the 2019 E3 last June, but EA and Maxis did not have any major contents released.

‘The Sims 5’ updates: Are Maxis and EA making the sequel already?

In the video game industry, developers typically start working on titles even if its announcement is not happening in several years. If fans would speculate, the same can be said about “The Sims 5.”

It was reported on October 2018 that 10 millions copies of the base title “The Sims 4” was sold since it was launched in 2014. The overall number of purchased copies could be as high as 30 to 40 million, assuming that all players with the main title also bought the four expansion packs released from 2016 through 2018. This means that the latest series installment was a market success and permitted the development of “The Sims 5.”

‘The Sims 5’ release date: Developers skip franchise’s five-year pattern

Updates on the development of “The Sims 5” remains unavailable, let alone the details of its release date window. Many fans hoped that the sequel would be launched in 2019 since the two preceding titles came out with a five-year gap between its release dates.

This can also explain why many people were hoping to see any “The Sims 5” teasers at the EA Play event last June. But the lack of it was a clear indication that no new title is going to be released this year.

‘The Sims 5’ requested features: Open world-oriented transportation

To make “The Sims 5” an enticing purchase, EA and Maxis need to incorporate upgrades and all-new gameplay features to the life simulation game. However, in GamesRadar’s opinion, some of the best possible upgrades were already introduced (and then removed) from the franchise. The report suggested that making open world-oriented activities available again would make “The Sims 5” a much better title.
