The popularity of the Nintendo Switch is self-evident at this point. Supply shortages due to the hype it generated in the beginning did a good job of holding back the tide. Since then, Switch units have been flying off the shelves consistently. It would seem that the popularity of the console was such that Disney took notice. The companies have since made a partnership to create a show about it.
The show will be called the “Nintendo Switch Family Showdown” and it is currently looking for participants to be featured on the program, according to a press release. Players will be composed of families, of course, and the basic premise is to compete until only one family wins. That is to say, families will compete against each other using the Switch in friendly matches.
“Are you a family that loves Nintendo and wants to show off your skills in various Nintendo games? If so, you can enter for a chance to win the Disney Channel presents Nintendo Switch Family Showdown contest and be one of four families to compete in an epic Nintendo Switch showdown,” the press release reads.
In order to apply, interested families can send in short clips of up to one minute in length. In the videos, the prospective participants will explain just how much they love Nintendo and the Switch. The families who are chosen will be flown over to Los Angeles to compete.
The games that will be featured in the competition include “Super Mario Odyssey,” “Mario Tennis Aces,” and “Just Dance 2018,” Variety reports. The conditions of the contests will naturally depend on the game, with events that include collecting items or scoring points being the most likely.
The show will be featured on the Disney Channel as well as Disney XD. It will also be streamed via the DisneyNOW app.
