T'Way Air Co. will start operating flights to Croatia four times a week, becoming the first South Korean low-cost carrier (LCC) to serve the route.
The license was among those distributed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport to nine local airlines for 25 international routes.
T'Way Air Co. also earned a license to fly to operate flights to Tajikistan twice a week, while Jin Air Co. received a route license to send flights to Zhengzhou, China, three times a week.
Jeju Air, the country's largest LCC, was given a license to fly passenger jets to Russia four times a week.
Other LCCs that earned licenses were Fly Gangwon Co. for flights from South Korea's city of Yangyang to Beijing and Changchun, China; Korean Air for Incheon-Fuzhou and Busan-Shanghai routes; and Asiana Airlines Inc. for flights to Poland.
However, the said air carriers can only use their new licenses after South Korea reaches an agreement with foreign aviation authorities on air transport security related to the pandemic.
