The tough-looking characters of “Metal Gear Solid” have been transformed into cartoon versions as they arrive on the “Super Bomberman R” roster along with a new Grand Prix rule in the game’s latest update.
Konami confirmed the release of update v2.1 on Wednesday. One of the highlights in this patch is the addition of all-new characters in the franchise, including Solid Snake Bomber, Naked Snake Bomber and Raiden Bomber, who were all based on the characters in the “Metal Gear” franchise.
Fans of the “Metal Gear” series would definitely be geeking out after it was confirmed that voice actor David Hayter was actually brought back by Konami to work on the “Super Bomberman R” versions of Solid Snake and Naked Snake.
Another interesting addition to the character roster is Xavier Woods Bomber, who is inspired by the real Xavier Woods. The professional wrestler has also joined Konami to lend his voice for his video game counterpart.
Other new characters in the game include Bill Bomber, Lance Bomber, Vic Viper ZERO Bomber, Ayako Katagiri Bomber, Ebisumaru Bomber, and Max.
Meanwhile, update v2.1 also arrives with the new rule on the Grand Prix mode called Checkpoints. Konami explained its mechanics in the release notes, saying, “Players scramble for areas known as ‘Checkpoints’ in the stage. Occupied checkpoints provide a certain amount of point every 10 seconds. At the end of the round, additional points are given for the occupied checkpoints.”
The latest “Super Bomberman R” patch also brings three new stages that were designed based on “Metal Gear” where the new Checkpoints rule has also been applied.
Konami has also added balancing adjustments and other patches through v2.1. These changes are highlighted in the mechanics of achieving a perfect status in the Grand Prix. For example, players are now required to get hold of all crystals for a full 15 seconds before they are awarded a Crystal Perfect.
“Super Bomberman R” is available on the Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
