Most smartphone manufacturers these days are offering up to five cameras on their devices, with the most common trend being the dual rear and single front camera setup. However, it would seem that Sony is taking a different route with its Sony Xperia XZ3. This smartphone is reportedly going to feature a rear camera with a 48MP resolution. Will other companies rise to the Japanese giant’s challenge?
This new information came via images of a render of the Sony Xperia XZ3 that is circulating the web. Not only did it refute earlier speculations of a dual setup as featured by the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium, it also added the detail about the 48MP camera. As GSMArena points out, specs on paper can differ from the final product, but the phone is expected to sport the 48MP IMX586 sensor that Sony recently unveiled.
For comparison, the smartphone to come close to the kind of resolution that the Sony Xperia XZ3 will reportedly offer is the Huawei P20. At 40MP, the Chinese brand’s own offering is nothing to sneeze at, but the Sony Xperia XZ3 still has 8MPs over it.
On that note, there have also been other reports that the Sony Xperia XZ3 will come with a dual camera setup for the rear. The likeliest explanation for this is that the company is preparing two versions of the same smartphone, which wouldn’t be unheard of.
As for the other features of the Sony Xperia XZ3, Android Headlines reports that it will supposedly come with a rear fingerprint scanner and a Snapdragon 845 processor that sports eight cores. This will translate to a 2.8GHz frequency, which should work well with the Adreno 630 graphics chip. Anyone who wants to play games like “Fortnite" Android on the Sony Xperia XZ3 won’t likely have any complaints if this is the case.
