Song Joong Ki erases traces of Song Hye Kyo by destroying the home they once lived as husband and wife

Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo dissolved their marriage last year. It was a piece of shocking news for their fans around the world because aside from the divorce itself, the two have only been together for less than two years when the actor released a statement regarding their separation.

The Song-Song divorce

The actor filed for divorce in June 2019 and it was finalized after less than a month. The speedy divorce process was due to the fact that both Joong Ki and Hye Kyo have agreed to most of the terms in the settlement. The two made it clear that they want the process to end quickly so they did not make a fuss by not making demands.

In fact, while they don’t have a prenup arrangement, they did not push for the separation of properties. Instead, both parties agreed not to separate properties anymore and just keep what each of them had before their marriage. In short, their assets and everything they worked for when they were single is intact after their divorce.

Song Hye Kyo, in her own statement, revealed that the reason for their split was the difference in personalities. However, many believed that there is a much deeper reason that they don’t want to divulge to the public.

The demolition of the couple’s home

Perhaps, Song Joong Ki was so hurt that he wants to erase traces of Song Hye Kyo in his home. This assumption came up after it was reported that the actor ordered the demolition of the newlywed house that he once shared with his “Descendants of the Sun” co-actress and wife.

Today Online reported that the mansion is worth KRW10 billion or over US$8 million when the actor bought it in 2017 to be their newlyweds home. But since he is now officially separated from his ex-wife, he wants it destroyed.

It was reported that Song Joong Ki is planning to build a new home on the lot and it will be more luxurious than the original. He already secured a permit for the demolition last month and construction is expected to begin, probably after the coronavirus pandemic. The new home will be 5-storey consisting of 2 basement floors and 3 above the ground.
