In an unusual collaboration, Skittles and French's have announced a mustard-flavored candy, aiming to mix the tangy condiment with the sweet treat. The limited-edition candy will debut on National Mustard Day, available exclusively at French's Mustard Mobile pop-ups and through an online sweepstakes.
While people know Skittles for its fruity flavors, this time, a mustard-flavored candy is coming through its partnership with French's. Mustard is a-must condiment for burgers and hot dogs, but the companies tried it for candies.
The yellow Skittles is set to be launched on Aug. 5 to celebrate National Mustard Day. McCormick & Company, the parent company of French's, described the unique taste of the new mustard candy as tangy combined with Skittle's chewy texture.
As per CNN Business, the mustard-flavored Skittles will not be sold in groceries or candy stores. People can only buy them at French's "Mustard Mobile," which is coming to just three major cities in the United States. This pop-up store will sell the limited edition Skittles on these dates - Jul. 31 in Atlanta, Aug. 2 in Washington, and Aug. 5 in New York.
For states without a schedule for French's Mustard Mobile visit, they still have a chance to try the new mustard-flavored Skittles by joining an online sweepstake event. Winners are given special prizes packages, including the new candy.
"From Mustard Ice Cream to last year's viral Mustard Donuts, this year marks the fifth time French's has gone all out with unique, flavorful innovations to celebrate National Mustard Day. With the yellow holiday landing on August 5th, we knew we had to outdo ourselves," McCormick & Company North America's vice president for marketing, Valda Coryat, said in a press release. "We are thrilled to collaborate with SKITTLES to deliver our beloved Classic Yellow Mustard tang in a new, fun way to French's and SKITTLES fans alike."
Mars' marketing director, Ro Cheng, further said, "SKITTLES is always looking to inspire moments of everyday happiness and deliver unexpected ways for fans to experience the brand that is why we have teamed up with French's to create the first-of-its-kind SKITTLES."
