TULSA, Okla., June 21, 2017 -- SemGroup® Corporation (NYSE:SEMG) today announced that Susan Lindberg has been named the company’s new vice president and general counsel, succeeding Candice Cheeseman, who previously announced her retirement. Ms. Lindberg will report directly to SemGroup President and CEO Carlin Conner.
Ms. Lindberg, who assumes the company’s top legal role and a place on its executive management team, has extensive legal expertise in the energy sector. She comes to SemGroup following her employment as general counsel and corporate secretary for Eni US Operating Co. Inc. Ms. Lindberg joined Eni, a major integrated energy company based in Italy, in 2006.
Prior to Eni, Ms. Lindberg was assistant general counsel at Duke Energy Corp. Previously, she was with Enron Corp., where she joined the company as senior counsel for Enron Transportation Services and later became a director of government affairs.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Susan to the SemGroup family,” Conner said. “With her 25 years of experience in the energy business and expertise in, among other areas, corporate governance, complex transactions, energy regulation and shaping company strategy, we know that Susan will make immediate and lasting contributions to SemGroup during this very exciting time for our company.”
Ms. Lindberg began her career as an associate in the energy section of law firm Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, LLP after earning her juris doctorate from the University of Texas.
“I am thrilled and honored to join the SemGroup team,” said Lindberg. “I look forward to engaging with employees and leadership across the organization as well as our external stakeholders. SemGroup is wisely positioning itself for long-term growth and I’m grateful for the opportunity to help drive the company’s success.”
Ms. Cheeseman, who held the general counsel position at SemGroup since 2010, will remain with the company for a transitional period in order to facilitate a smooth transfer of leadership responsibilities.
“We are happy for Candice and her family,” said Conner. “We appreciate her countless contributions over the years. She has been a warrior in protecting SemGroup while being instrumental in the execution of our strategy.”
