Samsung has long been bumping heads with Apple, competing over which company can roll out the best smartphone on the market. But Samsung is now looking to end the iPad’s reign with its Samsung Galaxy Tab S4.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 has been designed to outclass the iPad in every way imaginable, so much so that its specs are even crossing over to the realm of laptops. The device is set to be plugged into what’s called a DeX, which allows it to be connected to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, Metro reported.
That essentially means that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 will act as a portable CPU for users who are constantly on the road. But one could make the argument that a laptop is still superior for people who are always traveling.
However, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 provides a lot of flexibility for users while equipped with all the functionality of a laptop. The device boasts a 16:10 aspect ratio for its screen, with a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution and the AMOLED display technology.
Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core chip and 4GB of RAM. Its memory comes in two variants, 64GB and 256GB, which can be expanded to up to 400GB using a microSD card.
For its camera, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 can record video with up to 4k resolution. And of course, the device will also sport an S Pen, allowing users to create personalized messages.
Also, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 has been outfitted with quad speakers designed in combination with the AKG brand and Dolby’s Atmos audio technology. It even comes with a 3.55mm headphone jack.
And if that’s not enough, the company said that Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is capable of continuous video playback for up to 16 hours as it’s been given a 7,300mAh battery. Of course, all of these specs, functionality, and flexibility will come at a hefty price.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 has been collared with a price tag of £599 ($779) for the WiFi-only model, while the LTE variant will cost £649 ($845). The latter provides more flexibility as users can plug a SIM card into it to be able to access the web without being connected to WiFi.
What’s more, the DeX and the folio-style keyboard will be sold separately. However, the latter will be given for free for those who pre-order the device as announced by Samsung representatives. The release date for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 will be on Aug. 10 and U.K. consumers can pre-order the product on Aug. 9.
