BRISTOL, Pa., May 24, 2016 -- SDI, the leading provider of Supply Chain As-a-Service for Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO), deeply understands the importance of compliance with rigorous operating standards. As part of the company's ongoing commitment to delighting our customers and operational excellence, SDI has successfully completed the Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16 examination for its Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) business process outsourcing services on March 31, 2016. The examination, an in-depth audit of the company's control activities, was conducted by an independent CPA firm, Schellman & Company Inc.
SSAE 16, also known as the Service Organization Controls Report #1 (SOC 1) is an internationally recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
SDI has demonstrated its commitment to providing customers with the highest standards in processes, controls and procedures. The examination evaluates that controls are suitably designed to provide reasonable assurance that controls were designed to meet the established objectives. The controls addressed in SSAE No. 16 are those that SDI implements to prevent, or detect and correct, errors or omissions in the information it provides to clients or processes on their behalf. The examination verifies that the internal controls and processes are actually designed as the service organization intends, and that the controls were in place as of March 31, 2016. No exceptions were found in the SOC 1 examination of SDI.
By engaging an independent CPA to examine and report on their controls, SDI can respond to meet the needs of their customers and obtain an objective evaluation of the design of controls that address operations and compliance, as well as financial reporting.
"The SSAE 16 examination provides tremendous value to customers of our MRO business process solutions, including those who take advantage of MRO As-a-Service. Customers can be assured that we're committed to the highest standards for processes and controls to ensure the integrity of their cloud environment," said Brian Black, Vice President of Finance at SDI. Black went on to say that SDI is committed to performing the examination in future years and will be engaging in the SOC 2 examination relevant to security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality and privacy.
