BOSTON, Sept. 05, 2017 -- Risk Strategies Company, a privately held, rapidly growing national insurance brokerage and risk management firm, today announced the acquisition of Cornerstone Professional Liability Consultants. Based in Philadelphia, the insurance brokerage specializes in medical malpractice insurance for physicians and surgeons. Terms of the deal are undisclosed.
Founded in 2002 and led by its current president, Chris Zuccarini, Cornerstone works with over 3,000 physicians and surgeons in solo practice and large groups across a wide variety of specialties including radiology, orthopedics, anesthesia, and neurosurgery. In addition to its Philadelphia headquarters, Cornerstone has a presence in New York City.
"Risk Strategies is focused on providing high-level service and solutions for health care organizations and continues to invest in companies and individuals who can deliver that exceptional service and specialized expertise to our clients," said Bob Dubraski, Risk Strategies Company’s national health care practice leader. "Cornerstone’s strong client relationships, reputation in the healthcare industry and specialized expertise makes them a great fit for our organization and practice."
Cornerstone will become an integral part of Risk Strategies Company’s nationwide health care practice, deepening the company’s knowledge base and adding to its capabilities for clients across the country. Cornerstone’s current client base covers much of the Northeast, including Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Delaware.
"During our search for the right partner we were impressed that Risk Strategies operates as a truly national specialty organization with none of the geographic and bureaucratic boundaries typical of large broker organizations," said Chris Zuccarini, founder and president of Cornerstone Professional Liability Consultants. "We can now share our capabilities and capitalize on opportunities from coast to coast. Direct efficient access to the right expertise for any risk challenge will benefit our current clients and help us grow our business."
The industry’s most complete and experienced, Risk Strategies’ health care practice has grown rapidly over the past two years with the addition of San Diego-based leading health care brokerage specialist Dubraski & Associates, as well as Minneapolis-based reinsurance specialist Re-Solutions in 2015. In 2016, Risk Strategies acquired TSG Financial in New York, bringing with it a specialty focus on the home health care industry.
In addition to expanding its capabilities to help the industry manage liability and risk, the acquisition of Cornerstone expands Risk Strategies’ Pennsylvania office.
