Ripple has strengthened its institutional finance business through an expanded partnership with global alternative investment firm Brevan Howard, bringing Ripple Prime’s multi-asset brokerage infrastructure to funds managed by the investment firm.
Under the partnership announced Tuesday, Ripple Prime will provide prime brokerage, clearing and financing services to Brevan Howard funds. The investment manager oversees approximately $35 billion in assets for institutional investors.
The agreement represents another step in Ripple’s push to connect traditional finance with digital asset markets. Ripple Prime supports multiple asset classes, including cryptocurrencies, foreign exchange, derivatives, swaps and fixed income.
Prime brokerage services play an important role for large investment firms by helping them execute and finance trades, manage collateral and clear transactions. By using Ripple Prime, Brevan Howard’s investment teams can potentially access several markets through one infrastructure instead of relying on separate systems and collateral pools for different asset classes.
Ripple says its platform clears more than $3 trillion annually and serves over 300 institutional clients. The expanded relationship with Brevan Howard could further strengthen Ripple’s position as a provider of institutional-grade financial infrastructure.
Brevan Howard Group Chief Operating Officer Alan McGroarty emphasized the increasing convergence between traditional finance and digital assets. He said institutional investors increasingly require digital asset infrastructure that can integrate smoothly with their existing operations.
However, the partnership does not indicate that Brevan Howard plans to purchase XRP or use Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin. The announcement centers on Brevan Howard adopting Ripple Prime’s institutional brokerage, clearing and financing capabilities rather than directly increasing its exposure to Ripple-linked digital assets.
Ripple and Brevan Howard already had financial ties before the latest agreement. In November 2025, funds affiliated with Brevan Howard participated alongside other major financial firms in Ripple’s $500 million strategic equity investment round.
The expanded partnership highlights Ripple’s broader strategy of building institutional financial infrastructure that spans both conventional and crypto markets as demand for integrated digital asset services continues to grow among professional investors.
