WILKES-BARRE, Pa., March 24, 2017 -- Spring is finally here, meaning warmer weather is just around the corner. Now is the time to slip on those sneakers, step outside and start training for Navient’s second Ladders & Laces 5K race on Sunday, April 23, to support the construction of a new firehouse for the Hanover Township Fire Department.
“We are delighted to be able to host the Ladders & Laces 5K race again to show our gratitude to the Hanover Township Fire Department,” said Lisa Stashik, vice president, Navient. “We appreciate the hardworking firefighters in our area and look forward to seeing many new and familiar faces in our community on race day.”
Navient employees will also raise additional funds for the Hanover Township Fire Department through the company’s popular Jeans BeCause Program, which offers participating employees a "pass" to dress casually on certain days for volunteer donations.
Advance registration is available with a $25 fee. Shirts will be guaranteed to all participants who are pre-registered by April 1. Trophies will be awarded to first, second and third place male and female winners, along with medals for the top three male and female winners in each age bracket. The event will be held rain or shine.
The 3.1-mile race will be held at 220 Lasley Ave., Hanover Township, Pa. Registration will open at 7 a.m. and the race will begin at 9 a.m.
Coupled with the company’s Jeans BeCause program, last year’s race raised $12,000 for the Hanover Township Fire Department.
