DELRAY BEACH, Fla., June 08, 2017 -- PositiveID Corporation (OTCQB:PSIDD), a Life Sciences Company focused on detection and diagnostics, announced today that its Thermomedics subsidiary will exhibit the Caregiver® non-contact thermometer at the 44th Annual Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) Conference from June 14-16 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, OR.
Caregiver, which is FDA cleared for clinical use, is a professional grade, infrared thermometer for measurement of forehead temperature in adults, children, and infants, without contact. It delivers an oral-equivalent temperature directly from the forehead in one to two seconds. Since there is no skin contact and Caregiver does not require probe cover supplies, it reduces the risk of cross-contamination, which is an increasing concern, and saves healthcare facilities the cost of covers, which are as much as $0.05 to $0.10 per temperature, storage space, and waste disposal costs. It is estimated that Caregiver can offer savings of $250 or more per year per device in probe cover supplies alone.
PositiveID’s Thermomedics team is exhibiting at the APIC conference to increase exposure and awareness for Caregiver and generate qualified leads for its national network of distributors.
APIC is a nonprofit, professional association comprised of more than 15,000 members whose responsibility is the prevention and control of infections and related adverse outcomes in patients and healthcare workers. APIC promotes wellness and prevents illness and infection worldwide by advancing healthcare epidemiology through education, research, collaboration, practice guidance, and credentialing. APIC’s mission is to create a safer world through the prevention of infection.
