PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay and Quaker have opened a new Greenhouse Learning Center at its R&D headquarters, for testing, measuring, and analyzing compostable packaging to hasten innovation.
The facility allows the R&D packaging team to test the biodegradation of compostable packages in different environments through simultaneous, real-time experiments.
PepsiCo believes the facility will help it achieve its goal of making 100 percent of its packaging recyclable, compostable, biodegradable, or reusable by 2025, and shorten the timeline for innovative packaging solutions to reach certification-ready status.
PepsiCo will also use the facility to educate partners, stakeholders, and visitors through training sessions.
