NEWPORT NEWS, Va., June 28, 2017 -- Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE:HII) announced today that its Integrated Mission Solutions office in Dallas, part of HII’s new Technical Solutions division, received a 2017 James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award. The award, which recognizes achievement in matters related to a facility’s security program, is sponsored by the Defense Security Service and was announced last week at the National Classification Management Society training seminar in Anaheim, California.
Joe Reale, president of Technical Solutions’ Integrated Mission Solutions group, and Kathy Doyle, the Dallas facility’s security officer, accepted the award on behalf of the team. The Integrated Mission Solutions team in Dallas designs, builds, and modifies training devices and specializes in the simulation of airborne sensors.
“In our business, it is imperative that we establish and work to a strong security program,” said Jackie Bray, director of security for the Integrated Mission Solutions group. “Our security program reflects effective security measures and themes, and this award validates our security excellence. It is an honor that they have selected us for this award.”

This is the first Cogswell Award that Technical Solutions has received since the division was established in December 2016 and the third Cogswell Award received by an HII subsidiary in the past decade.
The Cogswell Award is the highest honor a company can receive for excellence in the handling of classified information. This year, 36 companies were chosen from 13,500 eligible facilities that are subject to recurring security assessments. A DSS industrial security representative may only nominate facilities that have a minimum of two consecutive superior industrial security review ratings and maintain a degree of excellence and innovation in their overall security program management, implementation and oversight.
The award was established in 1966 in honor of the late Air Force Col. James S. Cogswell, the first chief of industrial security within the Department of Defense. Cogswell was responsible for developing the basic principles of the Industrial Security Program, which includes an emphasis on the partnership between industry and government to protect classified information.
HII Technical Solutions is a professional services business providing solutions to a variety of government and commercial customers worldwide. The division was formed in December 2016 when HII acquired Camber Corp. and combined it with HII’s existing services subsidiaries, including AMSEC, Continental Maritime of San Diego, Newport News Industrial, SN3, Undersea Solutions Group and UniversalPegasus International.
