Halloween is almost here and it’s almost guaranteed that Blizzard has a ton of goodies prepared for its adorable, costumed customers. As it turns out, some of the details of those goodies have been leaked, including the long-awaited “Sombra” hero and the spooky theme that the online multiplayer game will feature during the holiday.
“Sombra” is a hero that Blizzard has been teasing players with since the game came out and there have been numerous occasions when the press thought she was finally going to be revealed only to be disappointed in the end. Now, a Reddit post came out that seems to confirm not only the existence of the hero but also the plan to reveal her on Halloween.
The original source of the leak actually came from “Overwatch” fans over in Russia, but it has since been taken down. It would seem that some enterprising users had the foresight to take screenshots, however, and they have been making the rounds.
Past imaginings of “Sombra” made her out to be a rather huge mass of blackness. The latest image to come out gave her a more suitable air of competence as a Latina-looking character, sporting a trench coat and unkempt hair. It would also seem like the hero has some ties to the Halloween event that Blizzard is cooking up, which also leaked.
First, there’s the new type of Brawl event that is specifically made to suit the spooky atmosphere of the holiday that it is celebrating. There’s a mention of a Dr. Junkenstein and a Zomnics, Forbes notes, which seem to pertain to a gang of villains that may or may not be enemies of the hero that is yet to be announced.
Halloween-themed loot boxes have also been leaked, which is not at all that surprising. Many are already speculating that Blizzard is set to announce the event and the hero on October 17th, with events lasting until November 1st.
