Customers in India now know when they can get the Oppo Find X. Unfortunately, the device will be missing one cool feature upon its launch in the said country.
In an event on Thursday, the smartphone company announced that the much-talked-about Oppo Find X will be having its first retail launch in India early next month. Oppo also announced when it will start accepting pre-orders and when deliveries are scheduled.

First, it is important to note that the early selling of the Oppo Find X will be exclusive on Flipkart, which is like India’s local version of Amazon. As of this writing, product listings for the device’s Glacier Blue and Bordeaux Red color options are now live on Flipkart. Both variants are priced at 59,990 Indian rupees or around $877.
The specs configuration for the said price includes a hefty 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. All variants of the Oppo Find X will have an octa-core Snapdragon 845 chip clocked at 2.87 GHz, a 6.42-inch screen with Corning Glass 5, Android Oreo 8.1.0 with Oppo’s own ColorOS 5.1, and a battery pack with a 3,730-mAh capacity.
The Oppo Find X occupied headlines on many tech news sites mainly because of innovative design. The smartphone company took the “edge-to-edge” screen concept on another level by not putting any distraction on the display — not even the highly copied notch as seen on Apple’s iPhone X.
So where do all the sensors and selfie camera go? Well, the Oppo Find X hides it in a motorized panel that can be pulled up when needed. Oppo rightfully called these components “Stealth 3D Cameras” just because they are.
The Oppo Find X’s sliding structure houses the 25MP front camera, the receiver, and all the sensors necessary for its AI- and 3D-powered camera features, including the flood illuminator, infrared camera, ranging sensor, and dot projector. This motorized part is where the dual rear camera with 16MP and 20MP lenses are also placed.
With a set of AI- and 3D-powered sensors, the Oppo Find X also sports features similar to the iPhone X, such as the Face ID and Animoji. Oppo claims that its own 3D facial recognition system (a first among Android devices) is “using 15,000 facial dot recognition,” which makes it “20 times safer than fingerprint recognition.”
Oppo’s answer to the Animoji is 3D Omoji, which practically works the same: applying AR-supported filters to people’s faces to produce animated images based on actual human movements. However, 3D Omoji will not be available on the Oppo Find X upon its launch in India, according to several reports.
