The Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus is now rumored to be working on its next flagship, dubbed the OnePlus 6T. As usual, the lack of official announcements did not stop speculations from spreading and they are now pointing at a possible November launch of a device with a small display notch.
PC Quest recently reported that PiunikiaWeb’s assistant head moderator known as Oalexander claimed that the OnePlus 6T will hit the stores before 2018 ends. However, no supporting documents or official confirmation has mentioned the same information, so smartphone fans are encouraged to take this as just a rumor for now.
On the other hand, if one would look at OnePlus’ schedule of release of flagship smartphones for the past couple of years, the OnePlus 6T launch in November is also feasible. In 2016, the Chinese manufacturer released the OnePlus 3 in June followed by the -T branded update model in November. In 2017, the company released OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T in the same months, respectively.
For this year, the OnePlus 6 was made available worldwide in May. This adds more weight to the speculation that an updated model called the OnePlus 6T could be introduced in November.
Rumors surrounding the OnePlus 6T does not end with its release date. Last week, a video from the YouTube channel of Waqar Khan claimed to show the “first look” on the OnePlus 6T renders.
One very noticeable change in the supposed OnePlus 6T design compared to the OnePlus 6 is the display notch. The rumored notch on the 6T model is visibly much smaller, housing only the front-facing camera. As for the rest of the screen, OnePlus is expected to maintain an edge-to-edge design.
Meanwhile, another very interesting feature of the rumored OnePlus 6T shown in the same YouTube video is the fingerprint scanner. Unlike the OnePlus 6 variant, the next flagship device is expected to sport a more advanced in-display fingerprint reader.
OnePlus is one of the manufacturers that do not keep details on upcoming smartphones for too long. While all these supposed previews are interesting, it is still best to take them with a pinch of salt.
